After my six-month stay in Franconia / Germany / I visited and saw many beautiful and full of spirit cities, but my heart trembled and I was so captivated by this magical and I would even say fabulous city – Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It’s hard to put into words the feeling that one feels when faced with such an impressive and lively history. One of the few survivors of the bombing, preserving the identity and spirit. The narrow, picturesque cobbled streets, typical for the area beautiful houses with geraniums in the windows and red roof tiles, craft shops and workshops, city walls, the cathedral …. – Rothenburg is a tale for lovers of medieval European cities. In a word this city can not describe, but easy to fall in love. Rothenburg is one of the main symbols of German romanticism. Nestled among the beautiful and unspool nature.
It is easily accessible by car, train and bus. Arriving can not help but be noticed fortified walls around the city. Easy to reach the center, passing through them. The town is small and close for 15 minutes we reached the heart of the city. I was not prepared in advance what to see and visit. I sat in a shop with a cappuccino in hand and watched the crowds around me and still could not remove the smile from his face. A real delight. Something that is first encountered is sweet and extremely tasty “Schneeball” / snowball / – a local specialty (cake made of strips of sweet dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar, caramel or chocolate). Extremely compelling and quite saturable!
Saying Franconia, almost everyone in Germany think of delicious food, great wine and genuine hospitality. In fact, wine is a tradition in the valley of the Tauber. Reaching the city, we went through this beauty. The surroundings of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is hilly and charming valleys, all dotted with vineyards and beautiful villages – ideal for biking or walking. Unfortunately we could not try them so famous white wines and their delicious cuisine. Recommended us was to try roasted salad with cabbage Savoy, pike with a sauce of apples and horseradish and sweet dumplings. Definitely will repeat and catch up J. I would not say I’m “gourmet tourists” but not how not to lick and taste the specialties that you offer.
Consider town!
Edna the main attractions in the city is City Hall. It is remarkable Renaissance building. It served as headquarters of the Government for the city – state in the Middle Ages. It consists of two parts – the Gothic tower, which is nearly 800g.i typical structure of medieval Franconia.
City Tower Rothenburg is one of the towers available in the city. The other is Roedertor / tower Roder / at the eastern end of the city and is open daily for visitors. Anyone who wants can climb and enjoy the outdoors is a panoramic view of the city. The tower is high just over 60 meters. Unfortunately, fear of heights prevailed upon me and this experience I saved it.
Of course, last but not least is the Gothic Cathedral. It was built in 1436g and was consecrated by the Bishop of Würzburg in 1484g.

§ Year-round Christmas Museum – a place where we can not remain indifferent.
Starting to write about this city, one of my motives was the Christmas museum and Christmas tale in which transported, visiting him last month of the year. Rothenburg is a pleasure to visit at any time, but in winter the snow turns towers and rooftops in a living Christmas card. Once a year, the medieval town becomes a winter wonderland during the Christmas holidays. One of the most – beautiful medieval cities in Europe, viewed from above looks like a model toys – but no! Everything is real! We were able to touch and beautiful and romantic Christmas market, which takes place from the 15th century. There is a town in Germany, where Christmas is all year – it’s Rothenburg ob der Tauber. While Christmas decorations can be purchased throughout the year from small workshops, the city lost in exquisite lights like a fairy tale, all Tove splendor is in December with the onset of the Christmas holidays.
Rothenburg Tauber is pure romance. Hardly any other city embodies so impressive and lively history. Place where the stones speak. They tell stories of kings and emperors, proud citizens and the secrets and magic of the Middle Ages. Eternal Christmas city invites you to visit it. Believe me … not to be missed!
